Lua Two-tone Pillow
The Lua (Lawa) people, Thailand’s indigenous inhabitants, lived in the North before the Thai and Tai migration from China in the 11th century. Their woven fabric is dense and thick, with the famous sin lua (Lua skirt) being notably short and narrow. Typically black or dark blue, it features ikat patterns on the warp and bold red stripes at the top and bottom. The Lua use a unique waist-tensioned loom, securing one end to their waist and the other to a post, allowing them to pull the fabric taut, creating the distinct narrow width of their textiles.
