Ikat Obi Belt
The obi, a traditional sash, is an essential element of the Japanese kimono, combining functionality and beauty. Originating in the Heian period (794–1185), this wide fabric belt carries centuries of cultural significance.
The Kalm obi belt reimagines this heritage by blending Japanese aesthetics with Thai ikat craftsmanship. Designed for modern life, it offers versatile elegance, perfect for both casual and formal wear.
Ikat is a textile patterning technique in which the warp or weft yarns are dyed prior to weaving the fabric. We sourced our one-of-a-kind cotton handloom ikat textiles from a local weaving collective, our long time partner in Sakon Nakhon, a city in the northeast region of Thailand.
